What Have We Done?
Despite our best attempts to try and improve on nature, it’s the whole foods that researchers and dieticians keep looking to for good health and true well-being.
Fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, fish and olive oil are basic unprocessed foods that humans have been eating for thousands of years. At the beginning of the 20th Century we started messing around with our food.
Our food needed a longer life so it could keep on the shelves longer, so we started adding chemicals to prevent spoilage. Of course, we all know what this has produced. Foods full of preservatives and pesticides.
Time For Some Bad News
I must admit, my diet hasn’t been so great these last 20 years. I’m now 50 years old and I was a fast food junkie for a long time. My breakfast came from a plastic package that I threw into the microwave until it resembled something edible that I could swallow with my coffee.
By the time I hit my 40’s I was feeling really bad and I didn’t know why. I thought to myself, “Is this what getting old feels like?” So, I went for a check-up. The first in 15 years.
